TX, FL, GA, & SC – Court Delay/Closures [Updated: 9/8/17]

Please Be Advised: Update as of 9/8/17 – Due to the incoming threat of Hurricane Irma, Chief Justice Jorge Labarga has issued an order closing ALL state courts in Florida on Friday, September 8th.
Exceptions are: Escambia, Hardee, Highlands, Okaloosa, Polk, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties. This could change based on the weather conditions daily.

Florida counties have scheduled closings due to incoming Hurricane Irma, and if weather permits, will reopen at the mentioned dates below or they could be extended.

*Please Note: These dates could change and we will be closely monitoring the situation as it develops from our researchers and the Florida State government.

This incoming storm is also going to affect the states of Georgia and South Carolina. We are closely monitoring the situation and as soon as we receive updates we will update them on our website. The below counties in these 2 states are currently closed, or have posted scheduled closings.

Beaufort – 9/8 Closing at 12pm
Berkeley – Closed 9/8
Charleston – Closed 9/8
Colleton – 9/8 Closing at 12pm
Dorchester – Closed 9/8
Jasper – Closed 9/8

 

Governor Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency in 30 counties.  Several south Georgia courts have reported that their courthouses will be closed related to Hurricane Irma. This list could change and several more counties could be added to this list. As soon as we receive more information we will be sure to post it here.

Cook – Closing 9/11 – 9/12
Chatham – Closed through 9/13
Effingham – Closing 9/11 – 9/14
Evans – Closed through 9/13
Liberty – Closed through 9/13
Long – Closed through 9/13
McIntosh – Closed through 9/13
Screven – Closing 9/11 – 9/12
Tattnall – Closed through 9/13
Wayne – Closing 9/11 – 9/13

TEXAS COUNTIES:
Aransas – Closed
Hardin – Closed until 9/11 (Limited Staff: 9/7 – 9/8 for 4 hours)
Harris – Closed
Orange – Closed until 9/11
Refugio – Closed
Wharton – Closed
